How to identify an ineffective surge protector as cited
below by boy wonder: No dedicated connection to earth ground
AND avoids all mention of critical earthing.

Effective 'whole house' protector costs about $1 per
effectively protected appliance. Below cited surge protector
costs about $65 and does not even claim to protect an adjacent
appliance. It has no dedicated earthing connection. It does
not even mention earthing, even once, because it does not
claim common mode surge protection.

boy wonder is asked to cite where that surge protector
defines effective protection. Apparently it forgets to claim
any such protection. Anyone recommending a surge protector
can at least cite one specific paragraph where effective
protection is claimed. At $65 per protected appliance (60
times more expensive), it better make some blunt claims.
'Whole house' protectors provide common mode surge
protection. Alas, that more expensive $65 protector does
not.

Where are those claims of protection? A surge protector is
only as effective as its earth ground. Instead, the cited
protector avoids the earthing topic altogether. Why mention
what cannot be accomplished?

Define hospital grade - or is that some advertisers gimmick
expression? Technically define what is meant by higher
quality.
