Newbie warning. What are the differences between
META NAME and META HTTP-EQUIV? What are
their purposes? How are they used -- by search

The META element
http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/struct/...html#edef-META

but avoid http-equiv. use the server to send HTTP headers.

they are used by anything that supports them. how they are used
depends on what the recipient wants to do with them.
