Keywords are generally ignored because they have been so abused in the past.
The description is only really of use once you are already getting returned
in search results.

To increase your ranking in google, you need to be linked to by other pages,
and to make your own links contain apropriate text.

Something like:

For cyber-matching, <a href="http://www.cyber-matching.com/">click here</a>

or

<a href="http://www.cyber-matching.com/"><img src="cyber-matching.png"></a>

is pretty worthless.

You need:

Visit <a href="http://www.cyber-matching.com/">cyber-matching</a>

or

<a href="http://www.cyber-matching.com/">
<img src="cyber-matching.png" alt="cyber-matching"></a>

Really, you need text links on your and many other big pages, that's the
only way to get google's attention.

It depends how your server is configured. If you use Apache then you
should be able to find the logs in /var/log/httpd/

The logs should be available on any web server. Ask your host. Of course
they may not log visits (disk space/server load) in which case you have a
choice to make. NB: Only the very cheapest hosting accounts don't allow
raw log-file access.
