Is it a acronym for something, or is it just a newly invented word?

Greets,
Henk

In java Swing, it is like a stick. Compare to the opposite
of spring. See SpringLayout class.

Neither. A strut is a kind of brace for building. The idea is that
Jakarta Struts provide the frame for a web application, keeping things
in the right places.

Don't believe what the others tell you. It's the Swedish word for
ostrich, and I'm sure there's a good reason for choosing that name...

Trust *them* to all be consistently wrong!

Really?

Head in the sand?

...But, doesn't 'Struts' actually mean..
"Swagger: to walk with a lofty proud gait, often in
an attempt to impress others; "He struts around like
a rooster in a hen house" "?

Almost (but not quite precisely) the opposite.

'Struts' is a bizarre word.

from late Greek strouthiòn, from Greek strouthos?

'Struth!

"strut" in Swedish means a cornet or cone. I know that because I have
a Swedish dictionary I used to translate Swedish government electronic
funds transfer specs.
