Debugging in Tomcat

Is there a way to step through the code in tomcat? We used to use Interdev
to debug ASP pages and were able to step through the code, and watch
variables and so on. We were even able to step through java code in it (when
it was being run from IIS). We'd prefer to debug with JBuilder but anything
else would do as well. Thanks.

With eclipse, there is a plugin for tomcat. It allow you to debug servlets.
For JSP pages, it is a bit more complicated. It is documented, but I did not
use that feature. But as for servlets, you can debug into code generated
from JSP. Not very user-friendly, but usefull.

I've started JSwat with the following command line...

java -Djava.ext.dirs=%JAVA_HOME%\lib -jar jswat.jar

Tomcat (v4.1) was setup as an nt service and I can't figure out how to
attach to the vm. I was reading this page
(http://www.bluemarsh.com/java/jswat/...omcat-jsp.html) and I
couldn't find most of the files that this person was refering to. I did set
the CATALINA_OPTS but that was about it. I couldn't find the
%CATALINA_HOME%\conf\jk\wrapper.properties file (I don't even have a jk
directory)j.

I also tried setting the debug level of everything to 9. (Everything is
everything that I could find in Tomcat's Admin tool.) But I couldn't connect
to it. I tried connecting to a remote vm using 'localhost' and ports 8080,
8000, 8005, and a few others.

I also tried starting tomcat with "catalina.bat jdpa start"
and connecting to it using shared memory, I tried "jdbconn" but nothing.
Thanks in advance.
