SessionState timeout isn't working

Can anybody help me getting the session timeout to work? In my
web.config file, I have <sessionState timeout="5"> but I can leave my
application idle for more than twenty minutes before it times out. Does
anybody know what I have to do to get it to time out in five minutes?
