Hi,

I am in thge process of migrate some data to a (remote) database using ASP
..Net to perform some processing of the data. The data load is initiated by
loading a textfile from a textbox and started by clicking a button on the
web page. The load seem to progress fine for about a minute and then stops
without the web page indicating anything.

I assume that this has something to do with the session timing out or
something and the request gets aborted before it has finished. I understand
that there might be better ways of doing this, but the live site is hosted
with a provider and I do not have control over IIS global settings etc. This
is also a "one off", so I am more concious about the final result than
performance and neat code etc.

Any suggestions in how to overcome this ?

Niclas

Sounds like a good idea, do you have any sample code for the creation of the
worker thread ?

Thanks

Niclas

Why don't you try it with a global worker thread?
You load the file with your textpage and then handover the processing
of it to the worker thread.
Then redirect to a second page, that periodically checks the status of
the worker thread and puts an update statement on the page.
