(To get back to basics...) What did you try so far? 2 minutes of googling gave me a couple of examples, one of them on much-known stackoverflow. No idea how / if they work, but it looks like you didn't even search, let alone tried?

Way to completely misunderstand your target market!!!!!!!
Most people who run Linux do so *BECAUSE* they don't want "phone home".

I'm not going to debate whether DRM is good or bad. I'm simply pointing
out that your "market research" is sadly lacking.
