Internet Broadband or ??
 

In Christchurch NZ. and at present on dialup -I am considering getting better service,i.e. Broadband an option.... I know NOTHING about Broadand or it's workings.
I am doing Family Research so am on the computer a lot, but although I am researching, and other than e-mails, I don't have big downlads unless it is some programme I want to install.
Perhaps someone can give me advice please.???
Telstra Clear whom I am with offers packages of.... 256/128 Kbps Broadband plus 500 MB usage pac @ $73............

A Max Usage speed Broadband plus 1 GB usage pac @ $79

These two I gather would free up my phone line..

PLUS there is what they call 'Pretty Dam Quick' which is 256 Khps upload with a download of 179 Kpbs. This I am not sure if it frees up the phone line.
Can anyone give me advice in 'understandable' ! English !!!:ciao: :withstup:
