I expect it will be very expensive indeed. Plus, the Four Thirds 2X
multiplication factor means that Canon wide angles will become
standard lenses, standards become telephotos and telephotos become
super-telephotos on the smaller sensor size.

Perhaps there might be some value in something like a 50mm f/1.4 on
Micro Four Thirds, giving a useful 100mm (equivalent) f/1.4 portrait
lens, but standard lenses don't usually have the most appropriate
optical characteristics for portraiture.

So I don't see Mr Birger selling vast numbers of his complex and
fiendishly clever adapters.

No, but it will be nice for those tired of the over-priced, mediocre
offerings from Panasonic and Olympus. Up to this point, the only
options for AF have been Olympus DSLR glass and most of them are slow
to operate, and not 100% compatible. Usually, the AF-C is most
incompatible mode, followed by AF-S.

Yes, but who are these people, and how many are there?

I can see that there would be a limited market for using other brand
lenses on the Panasonic video camcorder, but I really cannot imagine
more than a handful of people buying these adapters for use on Micro
Four Thirds cameras. I really don't think the Four Thirds sensors are
good enough to warrant the expense.

The aphorism from which you borrowed that "cry" sounds anything but socialist
