NTLDR is missing

When I boot up my eMachines PC running WindowsXP I get this message "NTLDR is missing". When I put my WindowsXP cd in I get the "Press any key to boot from CD" prompt. After I press a key to prompt it displays "Setup is inspecting your computers hardware configuration" but then it just goes to a blank black screen. Anybody know if there is anyway I can fix this?
