Keyword, always. Wrong. It was, it now is leading in many areas.

In the begining there was open source and then the profit merchants messed
things up big time. Open source has to win as it has people from all over
the world putting ideas and effort into a common goal.

Of course people will use/steal/beg and whatever an idea if it is a good
one. Or that think they can make profit from it either in $ terms or
otherwise.
