It may indeed always be the case that companies who want to control their
customers will find a ready, docile market. They may indeed always end up
with the majority of the market. Maybe most customers would rather not have
to think about choices.

But then, who does that give the power to? The Eloi were seemingly happy,
carefree, and childlike, and had the run of the surface of the world. But
they were food for the underground-dwelling Morlocks.
