Laptop kept crashing with BSOD errors.
Been trying to install from Vista DVD but I get random BSOD messages that halt the install. They are:- IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL 0x00000005, 0x0000AC88, 0x0000001B, 0x00000001, 0x895080BF and 0xC0000005, 0x8ACF2060, 0x87DD4B5C, 0x00000000,0x00000000 win2k.sys |
Re: BSOD error on Toshiba Equium laptop
Means you have hardware issues
Is the laptop actually compatible with Vista? It seems you currently have win2k installed <BertieBigBollox@gmail.com> wrote in message news:952a631f-e565-46ab-acb4-2eb403320ee9@d7g2000prl.googlegroups.com... > Laptop kept crashing with BSOD errors. > Been trying to install from Vista DVD but I get random BSOD messages > that halt the install. An exact model number would be helpful. Blue Screen during the Windows install generally point to a faulty RAM module. I would try this first: http://www.memtest86.com/ Have you also tried setting the BIOS to factory defaults. Reseating the the DVD Drive, Ram modules, and any other components. What is the condition of the install DVD. A nick in the right place would cause consistent failure and blue screens on the same files. |

Re: BSOD error on Toshiba Equium laptop
The single most common cause of this is bad memory. Get a good,
freestanding memory diagnostic (Memtest86 or similar) Second most common cause is overheating (fix: clean the heatsink(s) and fans (some laptops require major disassembly to do this well)). After that you are talking about really major stuff (new motherboard) BertieBigBollox@gmail.com wrote: > Laptop kept crashing with BSOD errors. > Been trying to install from Vista DVD but I get random BSOD messages > that halt the install.
