Urgent 70-536 Query........need help!

Hi All,

I will be giving the MCTS 70-536 exam in the third week of January 2008. I
am feeling fretful and apprehencive as exam is just round the corner. I am
studying books prescribed by Microsoft(Self Paced training book and
Programming C#:The Language book). I have a few queries and i would really
appreciate if any one could answer my queries and take the nervousness and
fear out of my mind.

1. Could anyone please tell me whether studying through the books mentioned
will help me pass the exam and please do suggest what do or what to read to
pass the exam?

2. What is the passing score for MCTS 70-536 exam?

3. Are the practice tests given at the link
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/exams/70-536.mspx would be enough as i have
less time left and so much to study.

Please advice me the best practices to adopt that will help me in clearing
the certifications. Thanks you all in advance......Waiting for response.......

Thanks Rahul

Rahul,

I have my exam scheduled on 29th Dec. I will let you know how tough is the
exam ? I know that I have not covered all the topics. Just want to give a
shot and see my level of preparation and knowledge. I am planning to take
the test before Jan 31st if I dont clear this time.

Good Luck.

Hi Rahul,
Guess noone else is around cos of the holidays to answer your
question. I have myself only given and passed the 536 And am waiting
to see whats happen to 528 and mcts when the new certifications are
released.
. The other posters here are much more qualified in certifications and
knowledge but I'll pass you the knowledge I have about the 536. For
536 i would say that u should be familiar with .net ie working on .net
1 to 3 for at least 6 months to a year. If you are then u won't have
trouble passing--only need to refresh the topics. pay attention to the
list of topics breakdown in the beginning of the book, security is a
large topic--chapters 13,14,15 so its widely covered. I answered
somewhere in this group not so long ago what the important topics are--
actually anything in that list that u see is quite well covered will
be more important in the test.
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/exams/70-536.mspx#ELF

secondly if u can go through each one of the entries at msdn, every
single question on the test will be based on this, ie there wont be
any question u cant answer if u know this--bret romero compiled this
list--
http://www.cygen.com/msexams/msdnsg70-536.aspx

1) If you only read the book and you are a beginner with .net you
won't pass or might pass with just a small margin..
2) Passing score is 700 / a total of 1000. There are 45 questions atho
not worth equal marks, so to be safe I would say you pass if you
answer 80% of the questions. You have 2 hours to answer them.
3) There are hardly any practice questions over there, you have to
HAVE TO try out the questions on the cd along with the book and if you
can purchase measureup question set as well-think they are around 1000
rs. I didn't- I only practiced the questions on the cd. But practiced
till i got 90% or more on randomly selected 45 questions.
4) There really is no difficult or easy questions on the test, either
u know it or you don't, only a handful of the questions will be tricky
and ambiguous.
5) in the exam read questions carefully, you might think that you know
an answer after reading just half the question but still go through
each of the given options! you have lots of time!
6) I scored a 1000--perfect score following msdn & the book! you can
too easily..you still have 3 weeks which is enough time to go through
the msdn list. give it a shot with that only if u can't get your hands
on more question sets.

Re: Urgent 70-536 Query........need help!

Hi Rahul,

I scored only 400 and could not clear the test. But now I have some idea
regarding the exam.

As mentioned by gravz in his earlier post on 11/26/2007, please concentrate
on these topics:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...pro.mcts&fltr=

They are really important and count most of your questions. I hope I am not
violating Microsoft NDA.

Good luck with your exam.
