Suddenly, SPAM and BULK MAIL Flooding. What is happening?

In June, I moved to a temporary location, losing my cable email address after cancelling the
service.. I emailed all of my contact and told them to use my public email address in the interim
(ureach). All went well for a few months, until the other day. The 6 MB mailbox they offered
exceeded the maximum, which never happend before. I looked to see only a few emails in the bulk
folder. I noticed that they were .wav files from unsolicited senders. I emailed Ureach and told them
of this SPAM problem and that it made my account unusable. They replied that only paying customers
get spam filtered. I guess I can understand that, although I went 3 years of using this address
without this ever happening.

So, I signed up for a Yahoo mailbox. Guess what? Same thing within the first hours of creating it. I
was wondering if anyone else has experienced this "public email" flooding recently?

Yep Swen Virus
I think it is a mutation of the sobig virus
#1 on Trend Micro's Threat list, The worst part is even if you have your
virus software up to date you still get your email box filled by others
negligence to find out there system is riddled with viruses.

The only Suggestion is to Block filter out emails with attachments from
people you don't know. That should get rid of some of your spamming, I
personally keep my email open and trend micro kills them as they come thru
and I set up a filter to throw away the emails with the deleted attachments.

Good Luck all

That is fine but it is a Yahoo mailbox. Are you saying that they have the virus? And my Ureach
account too? I cannot block filter emails that are stored on a public external mail server. What
does anyone do about that (including Hotmail and others).

I don't see anything in yahoo that would allow you to filter attachments. I
don't know what to tell you as for the other questions about who is emailing
it to you go to the link below.
