mock exam output
 

hello friends,
i gave my mock exam for 70-271 and just got 58% out of 100.very worried
..most of the things i am doing theoritical rather then practicle. can anyone
let me know whether practicle is very important while going for this exam.is
there any way or website where I can try for any mock exam free before giving
the actual exam.

Hi Bose,

I am going to give you the best advice I can and you are probably not going
to like it very much, but a lot of people seem to trust me when it comes to
certification exam advice.

1. You are very unlikely to pass any certification exam based on theoretical
knowledge. You have to know your material cold, and the only way to do that
is with practical experience. You are lucky in that you are taking an exam
based on Windows XP... people who take exams on servers usually do not have
servers handy to work with. Install Windows XP, play around in it, and then:

2. Buy a good book to help you study. I favour the Microsoft Press
Self-Paced Training books. They come with the Readiness Review Suite
software which will let you take as many practice exams as you like on your
own computer. It is very realistic and if you can pass that you can pass the
exam.

As it happens I took that very exam (70-271) a few weeks ago. Granted I
probably have a lot more hands-on experience helping people with Windows XP
and I did not go through the whole book, I did go through the Readiness
Review extensively and consider it a factor not in my passing but in the high
marks I got. The book has plenty of exercises and labs that will give you
the knowledge you need to not only pass but then succeed in implementing the
knowledge you gain from the studying.

I want you to remember that the point of any certification exam is to
demonstrate your knowledge of the subject matter. There will always be a
difference in someone who studies to know the material over someone who
studies to pass a test. That is one of the reasons that people hiring do not
only look at certifications but look at accomplishments as well. If you know
Windows XP cold then you probably do not need to study. If you just study
for the exam then you will probably pass it, but will you be a true
professional?

Think about that. Go out and buy the book, study, but really try to learn
the software before just going out to take the exam. Your clients in the
future will thank me for it.

You can pick them up at any book store. Look for the MS Press section in
the computer aisle.

There's the amazon link for the book you will want for 70-271. The review
suite included is quite helpful. I used this book + practical experience
with Windows XP SP2 (since SP2 came out), and passed the test with over a
900.
