Help Required for Dynamic Disk
Dear all,
i have a problem in my dynamic drive as it is not readable in my xp-pro pc after i had transferred it to my pc with xp-home. During the process, I did convert the drive to basic but without formatting. Realising that its not working, i switch it back to dynamic and transferred back to my xp-pro pc. After some search, i do realise that xp-home does not support dynamic disk. I can see the disk in explorer but cannot access it as it kept prompting me to format the drive. I didn't format it as i still require the data. Believe my hd data is still intact but how should i reinstate it? The status i saw at disk management is.. layout-simple type-dynamic file system-blank(the other hd is showing ntfs) status-unallocated space Any help will be greatly appreciated! |

If you put it back in the same XP Pro machine, and you can't see the data, you will need to do some recovery on it if you can't just convert back to a basic disk. Home Edition will only be able to see it from a 3rd party program that can read the contents of the disk. Doing anything to the partitions in Home Edition could lead to data loss. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=309044 - how to convert back and forth http://support.microsoft.com/?id=222189 - explanation of disk groups All is not lost, however. There are many disk utilities that can recovery information from dead partitions. Hiren's Boot CD has a plethora of utilities on it. |
Try Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software, it will help you in recovering your data from inaccessible hard drive.
Download the demo version of the software from (http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm) Demo version will let you see your recovered data. |
