MS Security centre on starting up

I have had some problems with my computer but after doing a System
Restore it is a lot better but after booting up the first thing on the
screen is the MS Security Centre showing :
Firewall ON
Automatic updates ON
Virus Protection Out of Date
+ a note saying AVG.7.5.467 reports that it might be out of date.

How do I get to make my computer open up normally.
I have been advised to delete McAfee and also AVG but have not been
able to get rid of either. Any ideas?
