picasa 2

is it possible to take a still image from an avi home movie using
picasa 2 software or do I need other software ?

You will need other software. Most programs that allow video playback
(except Windows Media Player) should allow this. Or, you can use a screen
capture program like Tech Smith's SnagIt http://www.techsmiths.com
