D70 and Focus Assist Light
The focus assist light on the D70 can be disabled on the menu. However
this light blinks to indicate that the self-timer is operating. Can the blinking light also be disabled during self-timer operation. I tried this at the dealer's but was not able to get it to not blink during self-timer operation. I can't find it any of the on-line manuals. Has anyone done this? I often use the self timer to trip the shutter for night photos and street shooting - use the ST as a cable release. I don't want the light blinking in this situation. I carry gaffer's tape for my S60 but would like to find a more elegant solution for the D70. Thanks, Roger |

I was dumping them for AUD 30+ a while back in eBAY ... Re: D70 and Focus Assist Light
They used to be in short supply but no more. $17 at B&H:

Re: D70 and Focus Assist Light
You can also use a universal TV or VCR remote, program it to code 066. This
was posted on here earlier this week. I tried it with my TV remote and it worked, but I bought the little nikon remote anyways. It's small and attaches to the camera strap. Yeah, and if you code it to 666, it can be used to control the wife. >I tried it with my TV remote and it worked, but I bought the little nikon >remote anyways. It's small and attaches to the camera strap. ....you just need a 15ft camera strap to use it at any distance. -- Owamanga! http://www.pbase.com/owamanga |

Actually, the little slip in case attaches to the strap, not the remote itself. __________________________________________________ ______ Ed Ruf Lifetime AMA# 344007 (Usenet@EdwardG.Ruf.com) See images taken with my CP-990/5700 & D70 at http://EdwardGRuf.com |
