Try www.oneandone.co.uk or www.123-reg.co.uk. Dan |

Re: Using a domain name as an email address
You register the domain and pay for hosting. I do this I have my own domain
and email I use http://www.ipowerweb.com/ for my hosting but it is only one of many hostings you can get. I pay a hundred dollars a year. I have webpage space and emails. For example if your name was Alan Green and the domain alangreen.com was available you could get it and anyone that went to www.alangreen.com would go to your website and you could have any email that was @alangreen.com so you could have the email alan@alangreen.com This would be yours for as long as you pay the yearly renewals no mater what ISP you choose to use. Hope this helps? Joker.com *is* a joker; you cannot get to a real person, the system acts a bit like the 1980's Eliza headshrink program. Their system acts like you as administrator do not exist if you try to transfer registration. And they want $70 plus lots of documentation sent to Germany to "prove" that you exist and are you are the administrator. And there is no way of knowing if such a persuit will do anything, other than enrich them. If you want to transfer registration from RegistryWeb (etc), they demand $50 in so-called contract cancellation fees that they claim they have to pay. All bullshit to falsely extract money from you if you are stupid enough to get stuck with them, and then foolish enough to think you can move. Been burned by them, and still burning. You can damn well bet they will not ever get one more penny from me; the domains can die. |
Re: Using a domain name as an email address
Thanks to everyone who replied, very helpful indeed.
Before signing out I would like to ask one more question regarding the name choice before the @ sign in my new domain name - email address. I have read that one should not use a personal name in an email address as in this example: [alangreen@whatever.com] What are members opinions on this please. Re: Using a domain name as an email address
I use easily.co.uk, very easy to use about £10-£30 for two years depending
if you use .co.uk, .com, etc. You can anything before the @ in your email address, some people use admin (as an example) but using your name is fine, you want people to know who they are sending the email too!
