Results are in for 70-553 and 70-554

So I passed 70-553, and my MCP transscript now says:
Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (Feb 17, 2006)
..Net Framework 2.0: Web Applications
..Net Framework 2.0: Windows Applications

I failed 70-554 (that beta test was very hard!), so I'll need to retake
that. Interestingly, I haven't gotten an email yet from either Pierson's Vue
or Microsoft - although the web sites at both locations are updated with my
pass/fail results.

For anyone who wants to see how these read in the transcript, you can see
mine at:
MCP ID: 3548478

You can see them at www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/transcripts :
Transcript ID: 718730

I have quite a bit of experience with .Net, and have been beating on it
pretty hard since it first came out. I do a fair bit of teaching to a wide
variety of people, so I get exposed to a much broader range of the framework
than most people do.

In terms of exam prep, I really didn't do much at all. I got a CD full of
Sample exams that came with the MCSD Prep kit from Microsoft that my boss
dropped off on my desk one day in early Janurary (along with a "Get
Certified Now!" sticky-note). I just took took the sample exams two or three
times on the night before the test, with the settings set for 'show me the
answer when I click the button', so that I can read the question, ponder it,
answer it, then have my answer confirmed right there. I personally found all
of the MCSD exams to be fairly easy.

Now, the beta MCSD -> MCPD exams were very difficult. I was not expecting
the level of rigor or detail that came with those exams. This is especially
true in the Remoting and WSE 3.0 sections, where I'm not particular
experienced. It'll be interesting to take the production exam, and see what
sections have been changed.

Thanks Chris for sharing ur exp.
well as i said before, i am preparing for 70-316 probable i will give in
middle of june..For preparation i have the micorsoft press book only and i
managed to found some sample 200 odd questions on internet . I would be
goind thru these resources only. So please let me know is it enough? I have
less exp of .Net, you can say just started.
Lastly Chris, if you could mail some test papers to me then it would be
great. My Email id is hannankhanji@gmail.com(2 GB). Looking forward for ur

Congrats. I didn't realise that passing the first of the two upgrade
exams gave you those two ts certs. I haven't seen that written
anywhere on the site. I assumed it was a case of passing both. I'll
have to think about doing that one soon.

Re: Results are in for 70-553 and 70-554

what resources did you use to prepare for the 553, 554 and the rest of
them?

Thanks
Nik
