can dial up during late night and early morning hours on Cinemax. But a
funny thing happened. Claire Dolan began to grow on me. Its flat affect
was intentional, the performances of its actors excellent."

GHOST STORIES SEMESTER 4: SENIOR SCREAMS (VOLUME 4) (reviewed by Brett

"The latest volume of Ghost Stories says 'screw all that reverent
original language crap,' and lets voice actors run rampant behind the
microphone. The cast gets the basic plot in there somehow, but they
pepper everything with their own unique brand of ad libs that skewer pop
culture, anime, movies, race, religion, and anything else their sick
little minds can fixate on."

"Tossed in for good measure is way too much MTV-style editing where you
really can't follow the action unless you're twelve and hopped-up on
sugar. If directors and editors would just stop embracing this imbecilic
type of storytelling and return to the 'old days' of slow, played-out
sequences, then we might enjoy the scenes more. If we were able to see
what was going on instead of just getting impressions of action, life
would be better."

"With funding from friends such as Kevin Smith, Pierson took over the
defunct 180 Meridian Cinema and paid the expenses of showing current
American and Indian films without charging any admission to the mostly
impoverished locals. Interestingly, this lifelong promoter of
independent cinema mostly shows mainstream blockbuster fare like X-Men
2, Bringing Down the House, and The Hot Chick, with films like Bend it
Like Beckham and Rabbit-Proof Fence mixed in here and there."

"Finkiel should be commended for cutting through the melodrama that
seems to spring naturally from Holocaust narratives (understandable,
