DVD Verdict reviews: VIVA LA BAM: COMPLETE SEASONS FOUR AND FIVE and more!
Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: ANNIVERSARY
COLLECTION, COMEDY CENTRAL ROAST OF PAMELA ANDERSON, C.O.P.S., DOOGIE HOWSER, M.D.: SEASON THREE, FAMILY BONDS: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON, FRASIER: THE COMPLETE SIXTH SEASON, HE-MAN AND SHE-RA: A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, NEWSRADIO: THE COMPLETE FIRST AND SECOND SEASONS, QUANTUM LEAP: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON, TAXI: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON, and VIVA LA BAM: COMPLETE SEASONS FOUR AND FIVE: CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION (reviewed by Steve Evans, overall score 90/100): "Cirque fans (and they are legion) should not hesitate to add this box to their collection. Although not an exhaustive catalogue of Cirque performances, this set includes most of their best work through the years." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/solielanniv.php COMEDY CENTRAL ROAST OF PAMELA ANDERSON (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 85/100): "It's a fun evening, and worth a look if you like Pamela or roasts in general. The whole thing is politically incorrect, filthy, and often hysterical. It's a fitting tribute for the Marilyn Monroe of our times, and Pamela takes it all graciously in good spirits." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/pamandersonroast.php C.O.P.S. (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 82/100): "Each episode finds the C.O.P.S. defusing a diabolical scheme cooked up by Big Boss or one of his underlings, ultimately ending in the bad guys getting away to sow trouble another day. Looks likes Empire City needs to beef up its 'D.A.' branch next and infuse Sam Waterston with some cybernetic technology." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/cops.php DOOGIE HOWSER, M.D.: SEASON THREE (reviewed by Mac McEntire, overall score 78/100): "And that brings us to sex. Sex. Sex, sex, sex, sex, sex. Sexy McSex- sex. This series has been preoccupied with sex from day one, but in this season all that tension grows and then builds up to a climax (Cough! Ahem.) with the almost-controversial episode when Doogie loses his virginity." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/doogieseason3.php FAMILY BONDS: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (reviewed by Neal Masri, overall score 85/100): "What comes through in this series is a charming contrast: The Evangelistas may be rough around the edges and in an odd business, but beneath the surface Tom Evangelista is a traditional partriach. He's Robert Young, only with nipple piercings and the legal right to bust into your house in the middle of the night." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/fa...ndsseason1.php FRASIER: THE COMPLETE SIXTH SEASON (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall score 81/100): "Perhaps one has to reach a certain point where one can fully appreciate things like a good pinot grigio, the abstract works of 19th century abstract Danish artists, or sitcoms like Frasier." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/frasierseason6.php HE-MAN AND SHE-RA: A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 88/100): "So enchanted by this new holiday, the King and Queen decide to combine Christmas with the twins' birthday and do one super-terrific celebration, where gifts will be given, boughs of holly will be hung, and Stratos will get @#$%-faced and try to grope Teela in the utility closet." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/hemanchristmas.php NEWSRADIO: THE COMPLETE FIRST AND SECOND SEASONS (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall score 91/100): "Run, do not walk, to grab a copy of this hilarious sitcom featuring one of the best ensemble casts in recent memory. If you refuse, you are insulting not only me, but yourself as well -- and of course, my cane." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/ne...eason1and2.php QUANTUM LEAP: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON (reviewed by David Ryan, overall score 88/100): "Somehow, Bakula always makes both Sam and the leapees into real people to whom we can relate. All these factors make Quantum Leap one of the most watchable shows in recent history. No matter what your taste in television drama, you should manage to find this inoffensive yet intelligent show appealing." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/qu...eapseason3.php SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON (reviewed by Bryan Pope, overall score 87/100): "Arguably the best season of the Nickelodeon mainstay has washed ashore on DVD in a package that leaves little to quibble about." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/sp...ntsseason3.php TAXI: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall score 88/100): "Even when it wasn't in peak form (as I believe Season Three is), its B game was superior to everyone else's A game. There are some moments of poignancy, others of sadness, and others of absolute hilarity." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/taxiseason3.php VIVA LA BAM: COMPLETE SEASONS FOUR AND FIVE (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 87/100): "Though these episodes vary in degrees of 'did-they-just-do-that?' mojo, for fans of sophomoric, slapstick, frat-boy humor, and the sum total is a success. These guys will make you laugh, and if someone has to get hurt for that to happen, so be it."
