Nikon Coolpix 2 year warranty

Have been considering buying the new Coolpix 3700, once it becomes
available, and noticed in this review
http://www.digitalreview.ca/cams/CP3700.shtml that the camera comes
with a two year warranty from Nikon Canada.

Curious why it seems that Nikon offers a two year warranty is Canada
and not in the US?
